Palm Springs-Best Value for Desert Golf

Published by Erik under Golf Destinations

Looking to play high season desert golf? A Palm Springs golf vacation may be just the fit for you. When planning your next desert golf vacation, you will have 3 major destinations to consider: Las Vegas, Scottsdale and Palm Springs.

Why Palm Springs? When you compare average daily golf rates amongst the 3 major desert golf destinations, you will find that Palm Springs comes out on the bottom, or top depending on how you look at it. With more than 30 courses offered for public play and an average high season round at $140 per round, Palm Springs golf offers some of the best play in the country without the top shelf rates. Compared to Las Vegas at an average ticket of $155 per round and Scottsdale at $175 per round, Palm Springs offers more bang for the buck.

Not to be undone by Scottsdale and Las Vegas, Palm Springs plays host to 2 PGA Tour events each year with January’s Bob Hope Chrysler Classic and The SKINS Game held each November. The Bob Hope Chrysler Classic is a four course rotation over 5 days using two private courses and two courses available for public play, SilverRock Resort & The Classic Club. The SKINS Game has been played at many public Palm Springs area courses such as PGA West Stadium, Terra Lago North & South, Trilogy at La Quinta, and its current home, Indian Wells Golf Resort.

San Diego is a Golfers Paradise

Published by david under Golf Destinations

San Diego California has long been extolled as having the finest year-round climate of any American city. Its no surprise that it also claims some of the finest golf courses with lush greens, steep bunkers and impeccable, challenging fairways. North San Diego, alone, contains 40 courses and is also home to manufacturers of numerous golfing products. For amateurs and professionals alike, a San Diego golf vacation provides an array of beautiful golf courses on which to test their playing ability.

Scenery has always added to the golfing experience. At Torrey Pines North, the Number 6 hole provides amazing coastline views while it’s layout presents a major challenge to golf strategists. Other great courses include Twin Oaks, Barona Valley Ranch Resort & Casino, Borrego Springs Resort, Doubletree, Four Seasons Aviara Golf Club which was designed by Arnold Palmer, Pala Mesa and Welk Resort San Diego, to name just a few. Some courses are private such as the exclusive Barona Creek Golf Club, the Escondido Country Club and the Lomas Santa Fe Country Club. Barona Creek was named by Golfweek as the fifth-best daily-fee course in California and by Golf Magazine as a top ten course. There are also twelve well-groomed public courses in the area.

For tournament players and fans alike, the Four Diamond Rancho Bernardo Inn with its championship 18 hole golf course stands out. This is the only golf course in San Diego that has been the site of both PGA and LPGA events. This course is always a first choice for golfers who desire a highly enjoyable round complete with exceptional service. The technically-challenging West-Championship 18 hole course is available as part of a golf vacation package for two offered by the Rancho Bernardo Inn. Of course no trip to San Diego would be complete without visiting the La Costa Golf Resort.

A San Diego golf vacation is dramatically enhanced by the large number of family-oriented attractions that abound in the area. While the golfer is enjoying his experience on the links, other family members can avail themselves of  San Diego’s Wild Animal Park, Sea World, Legoland California, Balboa Park, Knott’s Berry Farm Theme Park, Aquarium of the Pacific and more. Other unique attractions include a visit to the decommissioned aircraft carrier U.S.S. Midway , the San Diego Air & Space Museum and the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center.

The finest in golfing plus outstanding accommodations and unlimited attractions in one of Americas most beautiful cities. What more can a golf enthusiast ask for?
