Southern Dunes Golf & Country Club
The Southern Dunes Golf & Country Club is a fascinating course by prominent designer Steve Smyers and inaugurated in 1993. Golfweek Magazine rated it 51st among "America's 100 Best Modern Courses." The greens and the fairways are Bermuda Grass. The fairways are undulating and defined with a cut of rough, and the very true, hard, fast and oversized greens are undulating as well.
The greens are in phenomenal condition with a grounds crew that simply has to be the best in the business, and water hazards come into play on twelve holes. This course features very nicely contoured mounds along the sides of the fairways and around the putting. The signature hole on this course is 17, a 298-yard, par 3, with a waterfall on the left side that crosses the green.
