This resort has three eighteen hole courses, each named after the golf legend who designed it (Byrd, Jones and Maples), and has hosted the PGA Tour's Carolina Open and the Carolina Pro Am. The Sea Trail Plantation & Golf Resort Jones Course was designed by Rees Jones and inaugurated in 1990.

Recreational players will have their best opportunity at mastering the course's holes 4, 6, 9, 11 and 13. The greens are Bent Grass and the fairways are Bermuda Grass, and it has water hazards coming into play on twelve holes.

The greens are very fast, hard, flat and enormously oversized to suit the amateur golfer. The signature hole is 10, a 400-yard, par 4, which is set adjacent to a magnificent freshwater lake.
