This resort has three eighteen hole courses, each named after the golf legend who designed it (Byrd, Jones and Maples), and has hosted the PGA Tour's Carolina Open and the Carolina Pro Am. The Sea Trail Plantation & Golf Resort Byrd Course was designed by Willard C.

Byrd and inaugurated in 1990. The greens are Bent Grass and the fairways are Bermuda Grass.

This course is not an extraordinarily challenging one for the recreational golfer but will likely still challenge the ace Pro who sets off from a much further back Championship tee. Neophytes will experience the least trouble with the course's holes 4, 5, 10, 14, and 15. The signature hole on this course is 4, a 212-yard, par 3, requiring a tee shot over water to the green.
