Las Vegas Golf Club
Although most of the golf courses in the Las Vegas area have been inaugurated in the past couple of decades, the Las Vegas Golf Club course was designed by William P. Bell and inaugurated in 1938.
It is a fascinating course which delineates the degree of progress in the world of golf course design in the past 7 decades. One of the first aspects that stands out is that the fairways are virtually devoid of bunkers, much unlike more modern designs which riddle the fairway like a bomb site.
The fairways themselves are wide open to accommodate the worst slice or hook. The greens are fairly small, with some of them such as No. 17 being tiny by today's standards. The course is an interesting perspective on how golf has evolved and well worth playing.
