While the famous Lagoon Course is closed for a major facelift and revamping (it was approaching its 80th birthday, and could have used a nip and tuck here and there), the Ocean Course will keep north Florida golfers more than engaged enough in conquering its challenges. What would a discussion about the Ocean Course be without referring to what has been Ponte Vedra's calling card since its inception in 1928, the aesthetically stunning Island Hole connected only by a causeway.
It may be a 157 yard hole, but it is still going to demand all your attention as the water that surrounds the island has swallowed up many a ball. But the experience of playing a round literally steps from the broad, white, sugar sand beach with the sea breeze wafting in might be worth donating a couple of balls to the lake.
